IPTV Hits Home at Rose Bowl

Renowned as an international sporting and entertainment venue, the Rose Bowl Hampshire UK successfully stages concert events with up to 35,000 attending fans and sporting matches to the enjoyment of 20,000 fans. As part of a massive refurbishment to transform the 150 acre site into one of the best international cricket and leisure venues in the world by 2009, the Rose Bowl overhauled its IT systems to put in place a huge IP network over which to stream live cricket and other events. Not wanting any of its fans to miss a single second of the action, whether they are in a stand or not, the venue wanted a flexible and robust way to stream the live action to multiple screens. It selected Cabletime's range of encoders and decoders to take feeds from cameras focusing on the square, digitise the stream, send it over the fibre optic links to the venue’s Media Center where it is then decoded and played out live on large plasma screens.
